Some samples from a spalted European Maple (likely A. Pseudoplatanus) log were compared to verify whether spalting has a significant effect on chatoyance. A brief look at samples and details below reveals that there is no evident increase or decrease in chatoyance on blueish-coloured area but there is some increase in the brown-coloured stripes.
