This case study shows PZC measurements on Quartersawn and Rift or Flatsawn surfaces from white mulberry. 7 samples were obtained by a small piece of lumber.

The surface appearance is different between Quartersawn and Flat/Riftsawn surfaces. However, there is no significant difference in chatoyance between the various cuts.
Porous bands are not chatoyant, and so flatsawn samples appear more chatoyant if these bands are not cut through; maps below show two examples from samples 2 and 4:
